Maths Curriculum
Maths Curriculum
At Saint Aidan’s, we follow the Power Maths scheme to support our mastery-based curriculum. Our vision is to empower every child to become confident, resilient, and enthusiastic mathematicians. We believe that mathematics is not just a subject, but a vital skill that underpins thinking, problem-solving and creativity. Through a mastery approach, we aim to ensure that all pupils:
• Understand deeply: Children will develop secure understanding, enabling them to apply prior knowledge in new situations.
• Make connections: Mathematics will be taught to help pupils make links across topics whilst using real-world contexts.
• Think mathematically: Pupils will learn to reason, justify, and communicate their ideas using mathematical language.
• Value perseverance: We nurture a growth mindset where mistakes are stepping stones to success, and resilience is celebrated.
• Enjoy mathematics: Lessons will inspire curiosity, creativity, and a sense of achievement, fostering a positive attitude towards the subject.
Our aim is to best prepare pupils not only for academic success but for life-long love of learning, equipping them with the confidence and mathematical skills to tackle challenges beyond Saint Aidan’s.
